You Are Not Your Own

On 1 Corinthians 6: 13-20

“The body is not for immorality, but for the Lord… Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.”

Our bodies are not accidental to our beings, but rather, they are essential. If a human did not have a body they wouldn’t be a human at all, but a spirit. Thus what we do with and to our bodies matters. 

Our bodies were made for a purpose and we (body and soul) have been purchased for a price. God has given us the gift of our bodies. Although, perhaps it would be more proper to say that He has loaned us our bodies for this time on earth, as earthen vessels to “hold” our spirits. For as Saint Paul says, “you are not your own”.
